Fiat Mihi Secundum Verbum
Let it be done unto me according to thy word.
Notice anything? The name of this blog is Let it be Done, which is a reference to Luke 1:38, or Mary’s fiat. This was the moment after the angel Gabriel told Mary about the child (Jesus) that she would carry into her womb, a holy gift and mission that she did not yet understand.
This fiat changed the world by bringing Jesus into it and creating Christianity. The thing that is so beautiful about this is that Mary did not hesitate, she did not say “well, let me think about it” or “do you have any simpler tasks?” but instead she just said yes. Not even just yes but I am the handimaid of the Lord, let it be done unto me according to thy word meaning she said she would handle anything he needed her to do. This is the spirit that I hope to emulate in my life. It is because of the simplicity and beauty of this response that I chose to get this verse tattooed on my body (in another country, but more on that another time) and have chosen to root my blog in it.
Every day we should be responding to God with our own fiat and preparing for what He hands to us. I have come to realize that I do not control my future- He does. So even though I have a wide variety of passions and no solid plan for my life, I trust that He will provide me with a path.
